Tips on caring for your oriental rug:
At Fibercare we specialize in oriental rug cleaning including wool, silk and hand knotted rugs. We have had the privilege of working on many family heirlooms and heritage rugs, including a beautiful rug for the white house!
Rug fibers are very different from those found in residential and commercial broadloom carpet. Natural fibers are more commonly used in rugs than in broadloom carpet. Backings are also different and natural foundation yarns are more prominent in rugs, as opposed to separate synthetic backing fabrics for tufted carpet. Woven constructions are most prevalent in area rugs, as opposed to tufting which dominates the broadloom market.
We have specific training and certification in rug cleaning and repair.
Fibercare is a member of ARCS (Association of Rug Care Specialists). To become a member of ARCS, companies and individuals must be dedicated to the association’s highest standards. The members are experienced professionals committed to the highest levels of customer service, technical knowledge and business management in the rug cleaning industry.

Vacuuming your rug often —both front and back sides, and rotating it occasionally will help preserve the life of your rug. Although many kinds of damage can be fixed prevention is much easier (and less costly) than repair. It also helps to avoid placing potted plants on the rug and, whenever possible, to keep pets from staining. If pet stains do occur, we have the products and knowledge to help restore your rug.
Inspect the entire rug periodically for signs of wear or damage and have your rug cleaned regularly. Our trained experts will know the best way to clean your rug. When you care for your oriental rug, it will provide many years of use and pride of ownership.
